Soooo... Every year, we light a candle to put in the window of the front of our house and one to go in the window at the back of the house to welcome ancestors and help them find their way back home.
My Dad has been doping it for as long as I remember (-ish). When he stopped doing it I started doing it.
Just cuz I respect Samhain for what it really is, even if it is in a minimal way, doesn't mean I can't go out and dress up as well! (Never "Trick or Treat" though, since I spend the night in a party at a local pub! lol)
Well... up until now, I haven't been able to respect my ancestors so much as now. This year, I learnt a little more about my family:
Admiral Vaughan (Admiral to Lord Nelson) Barti Ddu (Black Baty, very famous pirate) Twm Rees (Famous freedom fighter who would dress as a woman with and axe and destroy toll gates, with a group called "Merched Becca" (Becca' girls) and this inspired many more groups all over the country to pretend to be part of the same group)
Sooo... THis year, I won't dress as the wicked witch of the west (of Wales, yep I live in west wales! How convenient!)! I will dress as a pirate!
Soo... what is everyone else doing to celebrate the time the vale is at its thinnest Samhain?
